The President's Circle - the Arts Centre Bequest Program
Join the President's Circle and make a difference with a bequest to the Arts Centre. Making a bequest is a simple act. It gives you the opportunity of supporting one of the nation's leading performing arts centres with your will.
What is a bequest?
A bequest is a gift that you make in your will. Bequests can be made in a variety of ways. Some examples include:
- Percentage of your estate
- Nominated dollar amount
- Shares or bonds
- Property or real estate
- Proceeds of life insurance policy
Does the size of your bequest matter?
We welcome bequests of any size. Every bequest helps to make a difference to the future work of the Arts Centre.
How will your bequest be used?
Making a bequest is a very personal act. You can choose to leave your gift for general use, or direct it to support a more specific need of the Arts Centre. Some of the key areas of need include programs (i.e. education, performance, audience development, audience access) capital development and collections (art and performing arts). Our Manager, Bequests is available to discuss how you might direct your bequest.
How will you be acknowledged?
The President's Circle acknowledges and honours those who intend to remember the Arts Centre in their will. In leaving a bequest you automatically become a member of The President's Circle. You will receive invitations to events as well as mailings of information; providing an opportunity to gain a greater insight into the work of the Arts Centre. Your generosity will be publicly acknowledged or you may elect to be recorded as an anonymous member.
How to make a bequest to the Arts Centre?
You make a bequest in your will. The wording provided below is intended as a guide and may assist your solicitor in preparing your will. If you already have made a will and don't want to make major changes you may simply add a Codicil to include the Victorian Arts Centre Trust.
I give … (specify $ amount, percentage or share of estate, detail property or assets) of the residue of my estate to the Victorian Arts Centre Trust of 100 St Kilda Road Melbourne for its own use absolutely, and I direct that the receipt of the treasurer or other proper officer for the time being of the Victorian Arts Centre Trust shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my trustee(s).
Note: If you are intending to support a more specific purpose or activity at the Arts Centre you will need to state this clearly in your will.
Why notify the Arts Centre of your bequest?
You are encouraged to maintain contact with the Manager of Bequests and be involved with The President's Circle as this will ensure that you will be kept in touch with what is happening at the Arts Centre. It will also help the Arts Centre in the ongoing development of The President's Circle bequest program.
